Ability to comment on tags that represent a certain “issue”

I was chatting with a non-techy friend who doesn’t even use wordpress…she told me in some blogs, specially activism ones, there are some issues being repeatedly discussed, sometimes she likes to comment on the “issue” not on the post. “issues” are represented by tags usually or categories. so i was wondering, is there a way […]

Are there any “YouTube-styled” commenting systems for WordPress?

I’m looking for a commenting system that allows users to like/dislike each other’s comments with the highest liked comments automatically rising to the top, much like YouTube’s commenting system. Anybody know of something like this?

WordPress custom form action url

Is there any way to replace standard WordPress comments form action, which usually looks like this: <form action=”<?php echo get_option(‘siteurl’); ?>/wp-comments-post.php” method=”post” id=”commentform”> to something custom WITHOUT altering comments.php (i.e. for a plugin, so you don’t have to make end-users edit their themes): <form action=”<?php echo get_option(‘siteurl’); ?>/wp-comments-post.php” some_java_script some_tag=”some_value” method=”post” id=”commentform”>

Filter custom posts with / without comments

I need to display (for pages that use a particular page template) a list of custom post type objects filtered into 2 sets – those with comments, and those without comments. Each of these sets should display the last 10 of its type (ie the latest 10 posts with comments, and the lastest 10 posts […]

Comment entry screen shows even though “Allow Comments” is unchecked

On my single.php and index.php I’m including the comment entry routine with this code… <?php if(get_option(‘allow_comments_posts’)){comments_template();} ?> However, when the specific post being viewed in single.php has “Allow Comments” unchecked, I don’t want the comment template to appear. I was under the impression that the comments_template() routine automatically managed this, but apparently I need to […]

What is the best method for handling comments?

A quick Google search shows a number of different options for comment plugins: Is there a “best” way to handle comments? I realize it will vary from site to site, but I’m looking for the best way to handle them on a “typical” site – no special requirements here. Is it worth using something like […]

Capability for allowing user to post own comments without moderation

I work at a radio station that has several WP user roles — for simplicity sake, let’s say Admin, Programmer, Subscriber, in decreasing order of ability. Currently, Admin users need to approve comments left by Programmer users. How do I auto-approve Programmer-level comments, without letting that user level administrate comments globally? Thank you!

Filter custom comment type from Manage Comments & Dash Widgets

I use comments with a custom comment type in my plugin to notify users of various events created by the plugin. The problem is I don’t want these cluttering up the standard comments so I need to filter out those custom comments from the manage comments screen as well as the recent comments dashboard widget. […]

Let visitors post comments on category page

I’m looking for a way to let users comment categories on category.php, but I haven’t been able to find one. Simple pasting didn’t do the trick (didn’t really expect it to.) For clarification, I’m not looking for users to comment posts in category.php, but rather to comment the category itself. Is it possible?
