Best way to salvage a very old WP site

I have a client who’s in a situation with her website: her ex-husband owns the hosting company and won’t let her have FTP or any other server access, she still has dashboard access, she wants to move the site to another hosting provider, and the site is on version 3.5.1. – hasn’t been updated since […]

getting notifications about updates only in the “core” page

I run a few WP sites and keep track of updates on a daily basis. Normally, I go into the Plugins page and check if there are updates to the installed plugins accordingly. Possible to add a statement to a core file?

I would like to add one line to a wp core file. Basically on the ‘edit.php’ page, just right above <?php include(‘./admin-footer.php’); I would like to add an php include statement… include(‘./custom-file.php’); The custom-file is located inside a plugin, not a theme… so if I write it inside my plugin function.php, the url will be: […]

Is it possible for a plugin to force reading and writing of uploaded images to a database instead of to a filesystem?

I am trying to configure a WordPress site using a server cluster and independent file systems. The problem is keeping the wp_content/uploads folder synchronized across all the server instances. My preferred solution is to “write” and “read” these files to/from a shared database. So my basic question is whether this is possible to code in […]
